Understanding The Importance Of Machine Learning And Its Impact On The Future
The concept of machine learning is not something brand new. As history
suggests that when about 60 years or so ago Alan Turing first created the
Turing test to find out whether a computer truly possesses intelligence or not,
the idea was first sowed. Since then, the human race has been trying to not only
create machines that are capable of doing a number of jobs but will also have the
capacity to think for themselves, learn new things, and function with a minimum
amount of human supervision. Since the very beginning of the idea, experts have
been of the opinion that if tried, a machine, namely a computer is capable of
learning new things and the process will evolve slowly to towards artificial
intelligence.
Getting To The History – AI or artificial intelligence is the concept where
scientists are trying to create and replicate the thought process and pattern
of the human brain. Though the future is pretty far, scientists are hopeful
that one day will come when a computer will be able to think all by itself and
won’t need any human interference or supervision at all. The idea may seem like
science fiction, but according to the people working in this field, such a day
will come and that will be the precipice of advancement in technology. Machine
learning is a huge part of AI because the process of helping a machine to learn
new things is considered to be the starting point of achieving artificial
intelligence.
The Works Of Machine Learning – Under the process of machine learning, the pattern has
changed quite a lot. Instead of just feeding the data, writing the rules, and
instructing the machine with knowledge, the method now mimics the pattern
matching process of the human brain. Under this, the algorithms teach a
computer to recognize the features of an object, instead of just recognising
the item. For instance, after being shown a fruit and telling it the name of
the fruit, the computer uses the information to the various features of the fruit
and builds upon the information each time. Initially, the computer may point
out the shape of the fruit. Then afterwards another fruit in the same shape is
introduced, the computer will differentiate between the two based on colour and
so on. The computer will learn to use new features and modify the existing
information and then learn from that as well.
Machine learning has various practical applications in real life, especially in saving
time and money. If used strategically, then machine learning can help a
business grow bigger and better with the help of latest and cutting-edge
technology. So, it is only fitting that, you know about machine learning and
its impact on both the future of your organisation and life in general.
